Prototype Assembler II - Electronics Manufacturing

Job Summary As a Prototype Assembler II, you will engage in electronic, electromechanical, and mechanical assembly as well as rework operations. This role supports engineering development, prototype evaluation, and low-volume product builds. You will have the opportunity to work with components such as printed circuit boards (PCBs), cable harnesses, evaluation kits, and other electronic assemblies essential for product validation. You will collaborate closely with Engineers and senior Prototype Assemblers to effectively build, modify, troubleshoot, and document assemblies tailored for engineering and prototype environments. Maintaining high-quality workmanship and adapting to changing priorities will be key to your success. Roles & Responsibilities • Execute assembly and rework of electronic, electromechanical, and mechanical assemblies. • Assemble PCBs, cable harnesses, and prototype hardware based on assembly drawings and engineering specifications. • Perform SMT and through-hole soldering along with rework on electronic assemblies. • Follow verbal and written instructions, including schematics and engineering sketches. • Read and adhere to assembly drawings, bills of materials (BOM), and manufacturing documentation. • Support engineering projects with prototype builds and assist in product modifications. • Inspect personal workmanship for quality and undertake routine rework as needed. • Maintain accurate build records and documentation for assigned assemblies. • Apply ESD and cleanliness practices when handling electronic components. • Communicate assembly challenges and improvement ideas to Engineers and senior team members. • Assist in troubleshooting assembly-related issues under guidance. • Keep work areas, tools, and equipment organized and maintained. • Adapt to multiple prototype projects, addressing changing priorities. • Work collaboratively with Engineers and team members to meet project deadlines. Required Qualifications (Experience and Skills) • Minimum of two years in electronic assembly or equivalent technical training. • Proficient in SMT and through-hole soldering techniques. • Skilled in using soldering irons, hand tools, and electronic assembly equipment. • Experience in assembling and reworking PCB assemblies. • Ability to interpret assembly drawings, schematics, and BOMs. • Familiarity with identifying common soldering non-conformances and performing rework. • Experience with SMT components including 0402 and 0201 sizes. • Ability to follow instructions both in written and verbal form. • Strong communication skills in English, both written and verbal. • Good manual dexterity and attention to detail. • Able to manage multiple tasks while adhering to quality standards. • Capability to work with chemicals used in electronic assembly. • Experience in supporting Engineers in a laboratory or manufacturing setting. • Understanding of ESD handling and cleanliness requirements for electronic assemblies. Education Requirements • High School Diploma or GED. Work Environment This position operates in a professional office and laboratory setting, utilizing standard office and lab equipment. Physical Demands The successful candidate will frequently stand, talk, and hear; may also be required to lift up to 20 pounds and work overtime, nights, or weekends as needed. Close vision and the ability to adjust focus are essential. The compensation for this role is between USD 27.14 - 33.25 per hour.
