Role Description The Outreach Specialist is a part-time, on-site role based in Fargo, ND, focused on connecting community members with mental health and addiction recovery resources. Day-to-day responsibilities include conducting outreach to individuals, families, and community organizations; sharing information about available services; and helping individuals navigate access to care coordinator and peer support programs. The role involves building relationships with local partners, participating in community events, and maintaining accurate records of outreach activities and referrals. The Outreach Specialist will collaborate with care coordinators, peer support specialists, and leadership to identify gaps in services and support initiatives that promote mental wellness and recovery in the community. This position requires consistent in-person engagement, professional communication, and a strong commitment to Better Together ND’s mission and values. Qualifications • Demonstrated skills in community outreach, relationship building, and stakeholder engagement. • Strong interpersonal, active listening, and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse populations. • Organizational and time-management skills, including accurate documentation and follow-up on referrals and contacts. • Understanding of mental health and addiction recovery principles; experience in peer support or human services is beneficial. • Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams and to maintain professional boundaries and confidentiality. • Basic computer skills for email, data entry, and report preparation; experience with case management or CRM systems is an asset. • High school diploma or equivalent required; additional education in social work, psychology, counseling, or related fields is preferred. • Knowledge of local community resources in Fargo, ND, and surrounding areas, and willingness to participate in occasional evening or weekend events.
