Who You Are:
As a Glass Artisan Apprentice with the UECo Fulfillment Center team, you will take the first step on your journey through our Employee Advancement Program! You will work with Senior and Master Craftsman to learn the trade and processes required for producing luxury metal lighting fixture components. You enjoy working with your hands, seeing a job completed to high standards and on time, work well in a team environment, adapt well to change, and you are punctual. As a member of the Fulfillment Center team, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the efficient and accurate processing of orders for our customers. You will be part of a dynamic and collaborative environment where you'll have the opportunity to learn and master various skill sets, including glass operations, paint mixing, painting shades, shade cell assembly, and packaging.
A Day in the Life:
You will have the opportunity in this role to work in the following areas:
• Glass Operations:
• Cut, sand, drill, and slump glass to specification.
• Apply finish treatments to glass. Finish processes include etching and mirroring.
• Layout and mask glass as needed so finishing treatments are applied only to desired areas.
• Paint Mixing:
• Mixes paint for Production Cells in the appropriate quantity and color based on work orders and paint mixing schedule.
• Compares mixed paint to color swatches to ensure proper color match.
• Painting Shades:
• Apply paint to shades with precision and attention to detail
• Follow painting guidelines to achieve consistent and high quality finishes (including color match requirements)
• Pack
• Package finished goods (glass, shades, etc.) securely and efficiently
• Label packages accurately
You will also be responsible for:
• Tracking supplies and material usage and communicating with Materials group to ensure proper stock is maintained.
• Communicate with other departments regarding any issues or rework that may be needed.
What Will Set You Up for Success:
• You’ve got fine motor skills and the ability to work with small parts.
• You pay attention to the details. As far as you’re concerned, anything worth doing is worth doing right, every single time. You stay focused and nothing falls through the cracks on your watch.
• You have technical aptitude and the ability to read and interpret shop drawing and blueprints.
• You have working knowledge of basic shop and power tools which may include cutters, pliers, grinder, belt sander, drill press, sand blaster, etc.
• You can manage your time and prioritize to meet production deadlines.
• Hunger for Learning: You have a strong desire to continue learning and improving your skills. You are open to cross-training in other areas within the fulfillment center as needed to support the team and enhance your knowledge base. You embrace new challenges and opportunities for personal and professional growth.
Physical Requirements:
• Ability to sit or stand for long periods of time
• Ability to wear appropriate PPE (gloves, respirator, etc.)
• Ability to lift 50 lbs
