Dog Handler

Job Description & Responsibilities: Job Summary: Responsible, each day, for assisting in the care and management of dogs, transporting guests, and giving 20–30-minute presentations about dog mushing. In all tasks, the position is responsible for adhering to the company’s policy regarding the treatment of its animals. Responsible for preparing sleds for guests and taking pictures of guests posing as a musher driving the wheeled sled. SOP's All employees are expected to adhere to the company's standard operating procedures to ensure consistency, safety, and quality in our operations. Your cooperation in following these guidelines is essential for maintaining our high standards and achieving our organizational goals. Key Responsibilities: Ensures guests experience the “E.X.C.U.R.S.I.O.N. of a lifetime” by being attentive to their needs and questions, and notifying management of any unhappy guests and/or obtaining guest information for follow-up. Adheres to all standard operating procedures to maintain consistency, safety, and quality. Communicates accurate information to appropriate staff when required (guest count to dog camp, office updates, communication with dock representatives, etc.). Follows all company policies and procedures. Performs additional tasks and responsibilities as needed to support company goals and objectives. Qualifications: Valid Driver’s License Valid CPR/First Aid Certificate Must be 21 years of age Able to lift up to 50 lbs Must be willing to work with dogs on a daily basis Must not be allergic to dogs Skills: Guest Service: Excellent communication skills and the ability to provide superior guest service. Time Management: Ensures timely arrivals and departures. Ability to handle unclear or changing situations and adapt to unexpected demands. Emergency Response: Handles emergencies calmly and efficiently. Ability to lead others effectively through rapport-building, active listening, clear expectations, and consistent coaching. Working Conditions: Frequent outdoor work subject to adverse weather conditions and temperature variations. Occasional exposure to various odors, including dog waste. Exposure to noise, including frequent dog barking at dog camp. Frequent sitting, standing, and walking. Must be able to lift and carry buckets weighing up to 40 lbs for a distance of 200 feet (typically no more than 30 minutes per day).
