Job Description • Employees transferring from another State of Alaska agency may receive consideration for advance step placement. • Employees working in this job classification will be considered for annual salary increases upon successful completion of a 1-year probationary period. This job classification will promote to range 11 after successful completion of three years of service with the court. This Position Processes daily filings for civil, domestic, small claims, and appellate cases by reviewing, organizing, routing, and entering documents and case information into CourtView. Maintains accurate and orderly case files, updates case records, prepares new file volumes, and identifies cases ready for closure. Reviews returned case files and court orders to determine and complete required actions, including processing consolidations, confidentiality orders, stays, transfers, judgments, and other case-related documents. Responds to questions from the public and court offices regarding statutes, court rules, case information, and procedures while maintaining customer service standards and refraining from providing legal advice. Maintains tickler and other reports and prepares, issues, and distributes a variety of notices, orders, summonses, warrants, certificates, and certified court documents. The Work Hours Full-time court employees are currently scheduled to work 37.5 hours per week. The work hours for this position are Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. with a one-hour lunch break. Minimum Qualifications Graduation from high school or completion of a General Education Development (GED) certificate AND one year of office clerical experience. Substitution Additional office clerical work experience will substitute for the high school diploma or GED certificate on a month-for-month basis. Completion of 36 semester credit hours or 48 quarter credit hours of coursework from an accredited college will substitute for the year of required office clerical experience. Completion of an appropriate vocational training course of study such as legal secretary, paralegal, or office skills will substitute for the required office clerical experience on a month-for-month basis.
