Join a growing Gulf South energy utility providing essential natural gas service to approximately 600,000 customers across Louisiana and Mississippi. As the largest natural gas utility in Louisiana and second largest in Mississippi, the organization maintains nearly 18,500 miles of natural gas distribution service lines while investing in reliable infrastructure, innovative technology, and stronger communities through a culture focused on safety, customer service, and operational excellence.
The AP Admin will support critical contractor and project operations across this large-scale utility environment, helping ensure invoices, purchase orders, work orders, and project documentation are processed accurately and efficiently. This contract opportunity, expected to continue at least through the end of the year, offers hands-on exposure to utility operations, project closeout activities, contractor administration, and high-volume transactional processing. The role is well suited for someone with strong Excel skills who wants to build experience within the energy industry.
Responsibilities
• Process high-volume unit price invoices accurately and efficiently.
• Verify required approvals and completion documentation prior to processing.
• Validate contractor purchase orders and work order types for accuracy.
• Reconcile purchase requisition line items and quantities.
• Submit additional quantity and new purchase requisition requests as required.
• Monitor contractor notifications and resolve GIS/WOTS errors.
• Research construction work in progress (CWIP) items and process necessary corrections.
• Support large project closeout meetings and project finalization activities.
• Maintain accurate invoice, purchase order, work order, and contractor documentation.
• Facilitate onboarding activities for contractor personnel.
• Provide transactional and administrative support for contractor-related operations.
• Collaborate with internal work groups to resolve processing issues and maintain operational efficiency.
Qualifications
• 1–2 years of transactional processing, invoice processing, data handling, or administrative experience.
• Microsoft Excel experience required.
• High school diploma or equivalent required; college degree or technical certification preferred.
• Experience processing invoices, purchase orders, work orders, or similar transactional documentation.
• Proficiency with Microsoft 365 and data entry systems.
• Utilities, oil and gas, chemicals, or broader energy industry experience preferred.
• Natural gas or utility operations experience is a plus.
• Experience working with high-volume transactional data and detailed documentation preferred.
